Like the title says: what the hell is this cheese called? We can’t find it on the Coles or Woolies websites so we think it isn’t available anymore.
It came in a red plastic tube about 4-5cm long with metal ties securing each end, kind of like a tiny sausage.
Inside the cheese was soft enough to squeeze out and slightly smoked.

I think that's just how all cheese sticks were packaged in Australia in the late 20th century, but other brands phased it out earlier. You might be right. It’s just a very specific memory of this small version we’re trying to track down.

Kraft cheestik. Wasn't red though. And longer than 4-5cm. Maybe an alternative brand. Maybe something completely different.

Used to buy them in the UK, exactly how you described. Think they were Smoked Applewood Cheese? Well maybe not, I went to look and apparently it is Austrian smoked cheese I used to buy. Dont remember that at all. Google it and its the exact same thing.
Yes I remember them in the UK. You could buy mini cheese pick and mix and this was one of them. I don’t remember them even having a label though
I remember them. They used to come in the Pick n Mix cheese things you got in the deli aisle. I don't think you could get them separately anywhere though.

ok i did some research there's no pictures of them exactly but they were not branded you bought them at the supermarket deli the people saying they were Austrian or German or Czech are correct this is a type of cheese from that region they are also cooked in a sausage casing i actually distinctly remember this because i remember getting frustrated at "peeling" them and spitting the metal part out most kids didn't like it skin on so they peeled it off giving everyone the false memory that it was in red plastic
