Of those options, I'd probably go +1CON/+1WIS or +2DEX!
I'm starting a campaign with a ranger bm lv6 and 1lv druid dip for arcane skill and wis save. I'm twf two scimitar for nick and beast attack bonus. I have dex 18 con 15 and wis 15. I'm wondering about what feat to pick between defensive duelist, mage slayer, res con, war caster or asi. What do you think and what is the progression? Let me know pls
Of those options, I'd probably go +1CON/+1WIS or +2DEX!
I'd probably go for an ASI to bump con and wis, if not, then War Caster and bumping wis would be my second choice
Not sure how you ended up with those stats. I guess you rolled? Anyway, definitely pick up +1 con and wis. Odd numbered stats do absolutely nothing for you so evening out two at once is a bigger boost than anything you could get from a feat.
I think sentinel could be a cool combo with your beast. If someone attacks your beast you attack them back!
I'd say ASI dex, since that is going to improve a majority of the rolls you do at the table (attacks, skills) or like other we're saying ASI Con and Wis, although not as good imo.
Wis is critical for Beastmasters because their pet's attack rolls are based off of it. Yet another very poor design decision affecting the Ranger class, but it is what it is.
A 1 level dip into Druid doesn't give Proficiency in Arcana or Wisdom saves unless you started as a Druid. All you would gain from the dip is Spellcasting, Druidic, and a Primal Order. Pretty much everything for Beastmaster needs Wisdom so anything that buffs that is useful. Shadow Touched is cool especially if you go to a high level since you can cast Invisibility and False Life on both you and your beast. If you can switch your Dex and Wis stats you could take Shillelagh and use a Club and Scimitar instead of two scimitars
Beastmaster is an odd subclass for this version of Ranger. It wants you to stack primary Wisdom because that's what your Beasts attack are based off of. With *your* build.... I would say War Caster. You're using TWF so your hands are full of weapons which restricts a lot of spellcasting, and it's now a half-Feat in 5.5 and you want to bump that Wisdom up to the next bonus for your Beasts' attacks. *Personally*, I would only play a Beastmaster as a "Beastcaster" going primary WIS and running Druidic Warrior (instead of a Fighting Style) and rocking Shillelagh. Ranger already has enough clogged Bonus Actions with Hunter's Mark that *generally* you won't get a much use of TWF as a Fighter or Paladin would needing it to both move Hunter's Mark around *and* command your Beast for one of its attacks. The Topple mastery of a Quartersaff is also great for then setting up Advantage for your Beasts' attacks later in the turn, especially with Extra Attack.
