Yeah the first one makes sense, but is not a common phrasing. The second is just awkward. Both “ran out on” and “deserted” suggest that you have left someone who wanted you to stay, someone who was relying on you.
not really, but I think most native speakers would understand your meaning. we would more commonly use a larger construction, like "I've been ignoring it," "I've stopped making payments," "I'm not going to pay that debt," "I haven't been able to pay it," "I decided to just take the hit to my credit score," "let them send it to collections," or something else that included the *reason* we're abandoning that debt. there's no general verb for debt delinquency that rolls off the tongue in common usage, although I'm sure credit companies, service providers utilities, and collections agencies have their own language for it.

I feel like I've heard "ran out on my debt" before. Like as a realcrime headline "Deadbeat runs out on his debt, police take him."
