Hinata
The Chunin Exam Preliminaries but randomized. Each round two of the twenty Genin will be picked at random to face off. Comment the name of the Genin you think would win along with how you think the fight would go. If you think the fight will end in a draw comment "Tie". Whichever answer gets the most likes wins. All characters are the version from the Chunin Exam Preliminaries and the fights will take place in the same area as the preliminaries.
Rules: Each fight is decided at random. Two Genin from the same team cannot be matched up. Sakura vs Hinata is allowed. While Sakura vs Naruto is not. There cannot be repeat fights from the original preliminaries such as Gaara vs Lee.
In what could possibly be called a "fight" Gaara annihilates Yoroi and advances to the finals. There is then a 15 minute break before the next match as staff mop up the what was once Yoroi off of the floor...and walls ...and ceiling. Okay, make that a 20 minute break.
Who will win? Hinata Hyuga vs Ino Yamanaka
Hinata
I'm not sure with this one. If Hinata locks in and really tries her gentle fist should beat Ino. But Hinata is so reserved she may not try that hard. So Ino may be able to go for a quick win. Either by brute force or possessing Hinata and making her forfeit. Should be easy if Hinata stands still too much. Maybe if Naruto and Sakura cheers her on enough Hinata will go for the win.
Despite Ino was shown having a higher battle IQ than Hinata, I really cant think of a plausible strategy ino could pull to lure hinata into a state of immobilization, because she's definitely not cutting her hair in a battle with Hinata. If they engage in a close combat naturally a hyuga will have a upperhand over Ino, and that's the only scenario i can think of. At the same time Ino being arrogant and Hinata being submissive might give Ino an upperhand in the battle. However I'm leaning more towards Hinata solely cause I believe they'll engage in a taijutsu fight.
I agree with most ppl here that Hinata wins depending on her mental state. If she is confident (or Naruto shouts constantly) she will easily win. If she lacks confidence, she is likely to lose.
Honestly I think people kind of underestimate Ino's combat prowess. She was top of her class, Lee called her (and Sakura's) taijutsu great during this fight, and in the war (which, granted, was 3 years later) she was faster than Asuma's jutsu to get Choji out of the way, and decent enough at taijutsu to keep him busy until Choji got a grip. Surely enough, being hit once would be game over for her, but I would say they are very close (like 55-45 in Hinata's favor), especially taking into account their personalities.
If the OG fights never happened, then Ino wins. Hinata lacks the strength of conviction she gains fighting Neji, thus meaning she will give up more easily, and will almost certainly lack the strength of will to resist the Mind Transfer jutsu and be made helpless. Its basically the perfect match-up for Ino at this point in time.
would love to see this scenario play out and turn into a second gaara vs rock lee level fight
No she doesn't, Hinata is timid in regards to social interactions, Hinata has never shown qualms or hesitation putting hands on people. Ino is getting the work put on her.
Ino wins because Hinata can't stop staring at Naruto and pining
Ino
is cooked.
Hinata slams
Tough choice. Ino's wincon is Hinata giving up and not fighting, and Hinata's wincon is beating Ino up.
I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing it that way
Hinata is more skilled but i don't see her finding a way against mind transfer so Ino
Just will herself out like Sakura
Ino won't land mind transfer jutsu, we have never seen her use it in a one on one fight without certains conditions, so she likely wouldn't even try.
Hinata is stronger, but this is not some bloodlusted fight to the death, Ino wins like a goose chasing off a much larger predator.
Nah Hinata is certainty beating Ino. Hinata is timid in regards to social interactions, she has no qualms or hesitation with putting hands on people.
Ino gets creamed, her abilities don't work at all in 1v1, realistically Sakura and ino should've been totally one sided even though at this point Sakura had no special abilities and was just generic genin in terms of ability
Hinata
Both are bums but inos jutsu is useless without shikamaru hinata no diff
The only bum here is Neji… oh and Gaara too
I don't think mind jutsu ( when ino is genin) can cause any damage and beside she have no other way other than using kunai or shiruken which is useless against byakugan user
It can't cause damage. But if Ino possessed Hinata she could just forfeit on Hinata's body like she almost did against Sakura. So Hinata could technically lose by forfeit of she can't evade the Mind Transfer or win before Ino uses it.
Hinata will win this, especially if it begins like it did against Sakura: close quarter combat with weapons and taijutsu.
Bro Ino unless Hintata becomes "bloodlusted", Ino is so much more aggressive and more of a ranged fighter
No, ino has nothing she can do against Hinata, and Hinata has never shown to not be an aggressive fighter.
Depends on how loud Naruto is in the audience honestly. The louder Naruto is the higher chance Hinata wins honestly.
Ino is overall a good sport and will likely not insult Hinata, so I don't see a reason for Naruto to interject.
Close combat Hinata
Unless someone is exceptionally fast like Lee, isn't it kinda risky moving in for close combat because you offer an easier target for mind transfer?
Hinata should easily overwhelm her on close combat, Ino and Sakura didnt show anything that would put them on the level of her. She is at the top of the low tier
Assuming Hinata takes the fight seriously, I don't see how Ino would have a chance.
Canonicially I think Ino is supposed to be good at taijutsu. Lee called both her and Sakura's taijutsu sublime during their fight, and in the war she was decent enough to hold Asuma back on her own for a while.
Ino is cooked
Hinata going to apologize as she shuts down Ino's chakra network.
Hinata is a close range fighter with her Gentle Fist taijutsu accompanied by her Byakugan bloodline limit (she can react in time to evade Ino's mid-long distance Mind Transfer Jutsu). Although she is timid, she can put up a fight if she wants to as she was sparring relentlessly either with his father Hizashi, even uncle Hizashi for a short period of time, and even his prodigy cousin Neji. The problem with Ino's skillset with Mind Transfer Jutsu is that it isn't an offensive Jutsu but used for espionage and when hit, is a guaranteed win by forcing Hinata to quit. That's the reason she cut her hair and chakra transferred it to immobilized Sakura. Situation 1: Another problem is that Ino is brash about fighting head on opponents in a taijutsu fight to go for offensive, she got even faked out by chakra-enhanced speed Sakura... And Hinata can move faster than them with her training in the Hyuuga clan. Hinata shuts down the tenketsu on Ino's arms so she can't move (she is not as sadistic as Neji who went for her heart). Situation 2: Ino throws a kunai, Hinata evades them. Ino plans for Hinata to make a straight run towards her by provoking her. As she prepares a Gentle Fist strike running towards her, Ino throws her hair to immobilized Hinata. Hinata saw through the trick because her Byakugan can see that the hair are chakra imbued so she ducks on time just as Ino makes the Shintenshin hand sign. Ino's spirit is missing for 10 minutes while the referee Hayate declares Hinata the automatic winner. I'd say it's 9/10 Hinata winning over Ino.
The prelims and finals are kinda unfair for support shinobi who only function in teams tbh. Unless they heavily rely on their intellect (like Ino and Shikamaru did), they are screwed, and even then, odds are skewed heavily against them (both either lost or tied). A support shinobi against the epitome of a combat oriented shinobi that is a Hyuga would probably lose, even if the support shinobi is considered stellar and the combat shinobi is considered a fluke by their clan.
I paint Ino as the 19th seed genin among those to reach the elimination matches. I consider it an upset Sakura the 20th seed managed to fight her to a draw. I'll say right off here that Hinata (who I have as the 8th seed) wins this. Positively nothing we see from Ino up until this point suggests she has anything she hasn't put on display. If we go with the anime additions she's even worse: being arrogant in the extreme, she tries to take command of her squad just for the social status of being in charge despite knowing Shikamaru's a better tactician. She lacked the commitment to stand up and fight for her friend, until he squadmates bullied her into it. She and the rest of Team 8 spent the Forest of Death trying to pick off weaklings. So I simply don't believe she is at a point she's taking being a ninja seriously, or has it in her to fight at any elevated level. For god's sake she tries to flirt with Neji to manipulate him when they're in the Forest of Death. Hinata, by contrast is the first kekkei genkai gifted shinobi in the series that isn't called a genius at some point. But she is trained in gentle fist, a taijutsu style that Ino has no defense against. They're also about the same height so Ino isn't pulling off much with extra reach in melee. I'd imagine, Hinata, being raised as the heir to one of Konoha's great clan would know something of the other clans, and may at least know what the Yamanaka's Hiden was. So even if she doesn't know the signs for it: I bet she'd know that she needs to avoid giving Ino the chance to use her mind transfer. I see no opportunity for Ino come from behind and recover from a losing exchange. Even if she's willing to cut her hair: that's not going to seem organic in this fight. Hinata has the speed to keep pace with Neji in their fight. Ino won't have the time to lay another trap in this battlefield, and if she tried Hinata will be fighting with her Byakugan on to hit Ino's chakra network. She's going to see if Ino throws her hair infused with chakra, or a wire tripline, or anything she tries to pull. Heck, Hinata may inadvertently prevent Ino from being able to use Mind Transfer by just attacking her chakra network to a point Ino can't use it safely. Also on the personality front: Hinata, despite being a wallflower in the past, and meek as we see her in the series up until this point: was been noted by Kurenai to be throwing herself into her ninja training with incredible focus to improve. I simply believe she takes being a shinobi more seriously than Ino at this point, and is not going to be cowed by Ino's playground insults. Honestly the biggest risk I see in this matchup is Naruto. Should he start yelling encouragement to Hinata that might distract her long enough for Ino to pull off Mind Transfer. But if Sakura gets to use her secret inner emotions to force out external control: why not Hinata too? The only other real wincon I see for Ino is feigning being discombobulated or collapsed on the ground and trying to milk Hinata's empathy while setting up mind transfer after taking too many hits. Again \_MAY\_ work, but Hinata may also see her gathering chakra while acting wounded, and know she's up to no good. This may not be a 10-0 matchup but it's at least a 9.5-.5 matchup.
I think Hinata takes it. If she’s using the Byakugan, she probably won’t fall into the same trap that Ino used on Sakura (if Ino even uses it at all). If Ino can’t land the mind transfer, she’s screwed because she’s not beating a Hyuga in close quarters.
