I would also tape off the visible wires with those special electric isolation tapes. Aside from that I agee completely!

Sometimes critters to go wire. We try as hard as we can, and take extra precautions around them. But just about every owner I know has had it happen at least once.
But are you all aware that it’s fairly easy to fix? Until recently I thought you had the throw the entire machine away. But can get a replacement plug for a couple bucks at any hardware store! They even have writing on the wire that tells you which one to buy. You just cut off the damaged cord, and wire it onto the new plug. There are like a million videos online that show you how. Takes like a half hour! I was able to save my air purifier this way, and am going to fix one another members old photography lights so we can take better adoption photos!

I have got to try this. I remember when I was younger my rat chewed my gamecube controller wire and it made it so wonky that if u moved the wire in a certain way it’d shut the whole wii off!

Can? Yes. Should? No. If I did choose to repair a damaged cabled from a rat chewing on it, I would get something of good quality with the same wire gage, cut off the damaged section, the splice the new cable in with Wago connectors and heat shrink them in place. Also, you can usually just find entirely new cables with the plug attached, then just open up the machine and swap it out at the terminals. That's probably the safest way, but you have to verify wire gage and ratings.
