It’s like $15 and then you guys can play together. I find the game much more fun on PC anyway. Let him buy it

Hi! so my boyfriend wants to play stardew valley with me and I'm going to be honest ive only ever played Stardew valley on my Nintendo switch… but he really wants to buy me Stardew valley on steam.
Mind you he plays on steam more but also owns a switch version too. i don’t what him to waste money on me!
but besides mods I can’t really see the appeal of owning two of the same games on different platforms! i really don’t know what to do.

it's not a waste of money if you're actually gonna play on PC and have fun together
It's peak, you will definitely enjoy it
I own it on 4 platforms 🙃
Same, I’ve bought it for steam twice (one was for my husband), Xbox, mobile.
I play all kinds of games with my boyfriend, but he just doesn’t like Stardew Valley. He plays Ark while I play Stardew. You have no idea what I’d give to be able to play Stardew with him.
I play different games with my boyfriend too I play so many with him and he’s always so great at them. L4d2 and tf2 are his strongest games with how many hours he plays I kinda scared to play stardew valley with him since I feel like I’ll hold him back.
I have it on Steam, Nintendo, X-Box and Mobile 😭
You support a passionate developer and get access to mods. Stardew isn't that expensive, especially when it's on sale. Maybe one day you feel like playing on your switch more, maybe another time it will be more pleasant on a different device - a PC/laptop/handheld pc/couch pc/any other future device. There are many possible advantages. I bought it on Steam, Switch and PlayStation. First I enjoyed it the most on PC, then on Switch, now I play it on Steam Deck.
That’s fair supporting a developer I love is very important to me and my boyfriend. We did for silk song and cult of the lamb. Since he loves to drive more then me i could definitely play stardew Valley while he drives and when we wanna play together we can sit in our little office and play together on computer. It’s tempting but good I feel so bad with how much money he wants on me I wanna give him the world but he’s constantly surprising me with gifts on steam and even chocolate when in a bad mood. I feel so bad about not being able to spend money in return since i usually make his gifts.
I think it depends how casual you are. I bounced off playing stardew before making it to summer several times on the PC but recently picked it up for switch and now Im on year 4. The switch console is way more casual friendly
Personaly I like having games I like on more places. I support the creators (at least when it comes to smaller developers) I also like to play from the comfort of my gamingchair and pc, or laid down in the sofa/bed. I prefer pc many times as it's better for my back. Prefer switch to bring on the go/travel. also just having a bigger screen (as if I play with others in the same house, both can't be on the tv with our switch) So I would like to have it both places just for the options However this is about you and what you want. If you absolutely don't want it on pc, tell your bf and money can be used on something else :) but you might like it more than you think, and if a time comes that you are tierd of vanilla, you can start with mods to change it up a bit
It’s a super affordable game and so worth it to have it in multiple places. I own it on mobile and Xbox. It’s one of my favorite games so it’s so worth it.
It seems like that you'd feel pressured to play the game because your partner would buy it for you.
I think if he can afford it, it's fine
I have it on switch and steam, steam is so much better imo for mods and mouse controls
Bought it for switch and mobile...
The price is so low,, I bought it on mobile just to send the developers some more money. Really you should not worry about that!
Idk what ur talking about but I have stardew on 3 platforms. It's just too good
Me and my wife would take turns on the first four or five play throughs. I would see that she was slacking on mining and fishing and help her out. Real fun, especially because we did that with Harvest Moon 22 years ago when my first son was born. I would say play it that way, if that means steam then fine, but there is a special joy to playing on Switch while in bed or on a couch (one and the same for me lol).
i own it on 5 platforms. if i could give concerned ape my first born, i would. let him buy it and eventually open your mind to the realm of mods 🙂↕️
nah let him get you it! its super fun to play on pc, you can get mods and everything! i have it on steam and switch AND mobile lol. its not an expensive game and you know you will use it on both platforms, so its not a waste of money :)
the price of the game doesn't even cost as much as fast food for 2. let him spend the money on you if it makes him happy. heck, a box of energy drinks cost more than the game
Being able to play together on Steam is SO fun! I do recommend if you can easily afford it. You can take on different tasks and different focus.
I say just go for it; you'll be glad you did. I initially bought mine for the Switch, but when the 1.6 PC update was released I didn't want to wait for the console release, so I got it on Steam. I also used my Switch controller to play on Steam, so it wasn't some huge change. To me it's basically the same as creating a new save file, and for you it will make it easier to play and enjoy with your boyfriend. Then you also have mod options if you decide you want to change things up later on. At least give it some more thought before you decide against it.
Its a really great co op game for couples, you should absolutely do it
Imo if you feel more comfortable playing on the switch, stick with it. I have the switch version and love it. While mods seem fun it hasn’t affected my enjoyment. Plus if him buying the game for you on steam would make you feel bad, you might not enjoy it as much Is there a reason he wants you to play on steam?
However you like
Mind you he plays on steam more but also owns a switch version too.
Where does he prefer to play? You cannot play multiplayer between PC and console, so if he prefers playing on PC then you will need to have the PC version too in order to play together.
To be honest, I believe my family (household) has five copies on both android and Steam, plus 2 for the switch... (only 5 out of our family of 6 play this game) And a long distance friend bought both the android and pc versions too! I have no issues with owning multiple copies of this game in particular!
I’m usually of the mindset of always buying another copy of stardew. I’ve purchased 6 copies now, only 2 of them for me. I’ve put somewhere north of 1k hours into this game. Eric can have my $15 again and again
