If you have to have one (and only if you have to)... can you put up phonetic sounds, common prefixes and word parts? Common school related words (test, book, etc). Something that is somewhat helpful to all students?
Hi all, elementary ESL teacher here. All ESL students are served out of one classroom, and this year we were told we needed to have a word wall. Any suggestions on how to have a word wall for six grade levels?

You could break it up into sections — columns, colour coordinated, themes, etc. Some themes would be: \- pronouns \- common verbs \- school items/supplies \- animals \- foods \- seasons/nature words \- academic words (especially for older/more advanced students) Each student/grade/table grouping could also have their own “dictionaries” with these words.
Maybe Greek/Latin root words for the older students? They have broad application.
