Animagus form yes, Harry sent letters to Sirius while he was on the run. Azkaban, no. Prisoners don’t appear to be in letter reading condition anyway - they are either too weak or outright insane.
Even Sirius ? I heard some one say that people are not in reading condition but it can perhaps go there as animals are not affected by dementors
