I print photos and also take my own photos of players to get autographed at games and I put masking tape on them to hold them down. I have been printing my own recently and masking tape has caused the ink of my photos to lift up off the photo, I was wondering if anyone knew what paper would be good for an inkjet printer that wouldnt be affected by masking tape. thank you
Print the photos with a half inch white border. Not sure if you'll find a totally non-marring tape. Look into what framers use for matting pieces. I don't have any experience with those tapes, but supposedly they can be removed without damaging the underlying medium.

Masking tape comes in many variations and qualities. Get some made for sensitive under layer. If you leave the tape on for weeks, then get the UV stable type that doesn't deteriorate if exposed to light. By the way. Good masking tape is not cheap.
I use scotch, walgreens photos dont have this same issue
About paper choices, I found luster/pearl types are more forgiving. They're mostly "sealed" like glossy, but have a non-uniform texture that masks small defects. It also depends on the type of ink you're using. I use pigments on Hahnemuehle. Pigments do mostly stay on or near the surface, so at least theoretically that could be a disadvantage for you. (or maybe they're further sealing the surface, who knows?)
Change the tape, not the pape
You want drafting tape, not masking tape. Also, print with a border so you aren’t getting adhesive on the image.
Photo corners may make sense here
