The “ADHD advantage” in entrepreneurship applies mostly to intelligent men, study finds A recent study published in Applied Psychologysuggests that attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is associated with a higher likelihood of becoming an entrepreneur, but only for highly intelligent men. For women with the condition, the opposite tends to be true, with ADHD linked to the lowest rates of business ownership regardless of cognitive ability. These findings provide evidence that the professional advantages sometimes associated with neurodiversity heavily depend on an individual’s gender and intelligence. https://iaap-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/apps.70113
Smart men are allowed to be a mess and it's part of the bit. Smart women have to be super professional, together and organized to be taken seriously. Even down to clothing makeup hair etc (not exactly an ADHD trait). We are also not given the benefit of the doubt that what we are saying is smart. When I'm the only one in the room that gets something, it is assumed that I am wrong rather than I am ahead of everyone else. Same goes with smart men being allowed to be assholes in the workplace and everyone thinking they are geniuses.
