I know this may sound silly but this has been ongoing and I'd like some opinions so please bare with me here.
My bf and I have been together for two years. In that time we've watched plenty of movies and shows together. Even recommended each other books and games. Yet not once has my boyfriend ever showed active enjoyment in anything I've introduced him to despite being very passionate about the things he's introduced me to.
Now, some stuff has been very lighthearted and way more for laughs (think High School Musical, Smallville, bits here and there of Gossip Girl) and i don't expect him to take that seriously. But there are things I've introduced him to because I thought he'd enjoy them based on other things he likes and I get nothing. When we're done watching, he doesn't have anything to say. This is not the case for Media he enjoys on his own.
I took him to see Obsession and all he said was "why do people want to watch stuff like that?" referring to the sad ending I think. We watched Nosferatu, no opinions. I tried to show him Mystery Incorporated as he loves Twin Peaks, no opinions. We've watched four seasons of doctor who and he still has no real attachment to the characters whatsoever. I've shown him different genres, animated, live action, all you can think of. Nothing. Yet the things he finds on his own he can talk about for hours.
I've never really said anything because I don't want to police his likes and dislikes, i don't feel he has to like everything i show him at all. But this pattern is odd, right? He's shown me things I've loved but it never goes the other way around. Its making me doubt myself. I feel below him at this point. Like i can't comprehend his taste or something.
I should say, he never disparges my interests or mocks them. He never says he dislikes anything i show him. There's just a compete lack of reaction.
Tl;dr my boyfriend of two years has never displayed any interest in Media i show him despite gushing about the media he shows me. It's making me doubt myself.
