Hello,
My wife is running UTMB at the end of August and is struggling to feel confident in her target time for the race. After some back and forth on what would be a good target we decided to ask this wider group of knowledgable runners.
- Age: 31
- Sex: Women
- Current MPW + training paces: 180km and 8000m of gain per week in around 20-25h a week.
- Previous peak MPW: Previous peaks were around 120km per week during marathon training blocks
- Details of your training plan: 1 day rest per week, back to back on Friday to Sunday of 30km+ with high elevation gain to get practice on tired legs
- Goals (including specific races): thinking of targetting 35h but unsure if this is too slow or too fast
- Previous PRs: Sub 3h marathon, multiples 100km trail runs around 12-14h. Have never ran a 100miler
- Feeling unsure about the cummulative fatigue of such a long race and the effects of sleep deprivation on the overall race.
If anyone that has done the race or similar races could share what their training was and finish time. That would be super helpful.
Any tips on how to make the most of the race is also appreciated.
Thanks
