im new to this subreddit, so im not sure if this is valid post.
this is a storytime i love sharing because it makes me mad every time. before i start, let me explain my setting. I live in an apartment community. It's pretty big, 23 towers with 15-20 floors each (4 houses per floor, 2 houses in tower 23 and 6 in tower 1 for some reason). we have a multipurpose ground in the center, which is usually used for big festivals, companies pay for stalls and our apartment puts lights on, the whole thing.
new years is one of the biggest festivals in the community, one of the only ones where almost everyone comes downstairs to celebrate. there was a good like, 500 people in the ground this year. the celebration was in full blast, 5 minutes on the countdown. i was with a friend, we were standing just by the dj's table, on the very corner of the crowd. imagine our suprise when we turn around and there's a police officer behind us. we immediately moved to inside the crowd. 3 minutes later, we're wondering why the 2 minute countdown hasnt started like every other year. we finally look away from the general crowd and there's like 3 officers by a police car and 1 on stage. the host is talking to him. after a decent amount of time, the host announces there's a sound complaint, and 2026 starts quietly, no countdown, most people didn't even notice yet.
when i came home, my mom was muttering vague insults to someone unnamed. when i asked, my dad told me the full story. there was a lady with a one year old who issued the sound complaint to the police because her baby 'couldn't sleep'. as much as i understand, this was an apartment event, dude. its new years for gods sake, our apartment has plenty of babies, but nobody else complained. she couldve just waited 5 more minutes, but noo, she just had to ruin the celebration for everybody else. honestly, it just pissed me off so much.
anyway, that's it, sorry for the big rant
So annoying! Sorry, everybody else’s life wasn’t turned upside down when you had your baby! It’s New. Year’s. EVE!!!!!
The worst part is that she could've just waited like 10 minutes, the countdown was literally 2 minutes away, everybody could've just left! But instead many ppl stayed because they had no idea the event was even over.
This is so entitled. It’s a community new years event that happens once a year and everyone knows it’s loud. You don’t move into a 23-tower apartment complex during festival season and expect silence at midnight. She could’ve used a white noise machine, earplugs, or literally just waited 5 minutes. Ruining it for 500 people over 1 baby is wild.
theres a very big baby population in our apartment too. atleast 6 houses have babies in a single tower. but the rest of the parents are actually sane and have some sense of social awareness
if she genuinely needed quiet she couldve just stayed inside her unit with the baby instead of calling cops on an event the whole complex signed up for by living there
Imagine moving into a 23-tower complex with thousands of people and expecting absolute silence five minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve. Pure, uncut main character syndrome.
the host probably should've kept things rolling despite the chaos, sounds like an epic buzzkill.
appearantly because of the police chaos, they 'didn't have time to prepare the countdown'. really sucked honestly :(. they didnt want to encourage people to countdown since the police were watching like hawks in the back. didn't mention this, but the police talking to him also made him agree to shutting down the whole event in 2 minutes, which would be around 12:01 AM.

mhm. we have a whatsapp group for our apartment. everybody was arguing her, but she threw a tantrum, started saying shit like 'oh i guess u js dont want me here then' (we didnt) and left the group

get the police report and document everything. you have to hold her accountable for ruining the celebration.

Good god almighty, just wait until the Fourth of July comes around.
sadly, we dont live in america. but, im hoping on christmas or on the next new years she does this again out of pettiness so we can annihilate her
