Flick keyboard
That's , right?
I'm looking for something better than just romaji input via the standard QWERTY layout on my phone and these seem to be the two best options from what I can see. Which do you use/recommend?
Flick keyboard
That's , right?
I installed the official Japanese iOS keyboard, and switch between that and US English. Not sure if that's what you meant by Romaji input. Do Japanese typically use something else?
I've heard that 12 Key and are supposed to be really popular amongst native Japanese speakers. The former is kana input whereas the latter is like a more compact QWERTY/standard US keyboard layout.
Flick 12 key >>>>>>
Flick input is what all my Japanese friends use but to be honest, I just stick with romaji input. What's better is basically whatever you find easiest to use, the end result is the same.
I LOVE the flick 12 key input. It's so easy and efficient! My wife (japanese) can't use it though lol and she uses the 12 key but taps each kana like it's a garake still. If you want to go down the based road of the 12 key i recommend getting this app フリックラーニング off the app store and just practicing one row at a time until you get all of them. takes like 10minutes a day for 2 weeks at maximum
12-key flick all day long.
I’ve never heard of a Godan layout but I’m 4 months into my studies and 12 key with swipe has already become pretty natural for me
A: QWERTY romaji is fine. B) 12key flick
Yeah same i use qwerty romaji too Tried to use flick vut just way too slow for me
I make a lot of typos when I use a romaji input (things like よかtった, etc.) so I prefer flick input. I have no idea what godan keyboard is but it looks like an abomination.
Lol not gonna lie this is my problem on mobile as well, typos are common and in most other languages they don't matter but in Japanese they break everything lol. I suppose one needs to type in Japanese a lot for their system to kind of learn what words you're looking for, I rarely do but sometimes I just have to browse quite a lot to find some word I'm trying to use that I end up giving up.
I've been doing with with google keyboards "12-flick" -keyboard
Same, I love this layout.
I have only tried 12 キー and the cycling through input caused by hitting the same key twice is kinda annoying (I've learned to press the right arrow key through habit to avoid that). Seems Godan doesn't have that problem. Well, lazy me don't want to change the keyboard settings and relearn some stuff. I guess my aversion to romaji plays a part as well (though the 五十音 layout seems inviting to experiment with although it seems quite cramped).
