5th graders are a pretty great age. Still kids, but not so little you need to wipe their noses. Just my opinion, but I think you’ll enjoy teaching them more than middle school
How independent are they?
I am currently in 7th grade ELA, looking to move to 5th grade ELA for a variety of reasons. Any tips on interviewing or what I should know if I got the job?
I've taught in my current position for 13 years. It's a union school. I have tried to move up to the high school three times now, but the school always tells me that they want to keep someone strong in middle school, as our school is 7-12. The 5th grade position is in a 3-6 school. It feels like a big change, but it would help me get my children to school on time and would allow me to (kind of) get away from the behaviors of middle school.
