Card carrying member of the "they glanced at each other once and now they're soulmates" hate club. The bar is in hell for this trope Try the Captive Prince trilogy if you haven't already, it's the only series I've read where the distrust feels earned and the shift takes actual books to happen. Not fantasy but the court intrigue scratches a similar itch
