  Card carrying member of the "they glanced at each other once and now they're soulmates" hate club. The bar is in hell for this trope Try the Captive Prince trilogy if you haven't already, it's the only series I've read where the distrust feels earned and the shift takes actual books to happen. Not fantasy but the court intrigue scratches a similar itch

    Totally agree, the slow burn feels so much more satisfying when the trust is actually earned instead of rushed

  I don't know if you only want heterosexual romance but my favorite sapphic enemies to lovers is The Lowest Healer And The Highest Mage by Hiyodori. At the start of the book, the perspective character is in jail for life after a brutal betrayal from her ex girlfriend, a powerful magical and political figure. In this world, mages are the privileged class and healers, who are needed to keep the magic users' magic working well, are a servant class with few rights. The main character agrees, despite her bitter hatred, to try to heal the faltering magic of her ex in exchange for a chance at parole. I like this one for the interesting magic system and world building, the wit and sarcasm of the main character, and also the gradual reveal of the complicated history between the two and the details about what exactly happened/is happening. It feels earned.
