Diva DOWN 🚨 I inherited this pink princess plant from a friend a year ago before they started traveling around the world. Admittedly it wasn’t in the best shape when I first got it - it was floppy and had a lot of stem with no leaves.
I thought we were getting into an okay place with it and refreshed its soil two months or so ago. When I refreshed soil, I thought I should reposition some of its leafless stem closer to the soil because I had read that it would potentially encourage new growth… Unfortunately, I had broken the longer stem and then had to make some sort of sad splint to try to save it. Going to be real…idk if it worked at all. The stem seems to have a little life in it but it looks sooo sad. Basically all of the leaves after the break are now brown and droopy besides the one at the very end.
Would you just cut off the stem at the cut and call it a day? Maybe cut even further down on the stem even? You’ll see in the photos that the plant has a shorter off shoot that is really the life of the party and much more healthy looking. Would love any advice yall have for giving this Pink Princess its Princess Diaries makeover. 🙏
One interesting thing - when I repotted the plant it appeared to basically have 0 root system? Like it almost looked as if just the base of the stem was sucking up nutrients. Also my friend was using plastic beads in the soil to make it rocky—I replaced with pearlite cuz I thought that was a lil weird.
