It was summer vacation around 2020. I was 16 years old, and I spent most of my time inside my house. I was an introvert with anxiety, so staying home was normal for me. I usually spent my days and nights playing games on my PC, watching videos on my phone, or watching movies on TV.
During that summer vacation, my mom and dad decided to go to our hometown with my little brother. I wanted to stay alone at home because I believed I was old enough to handle it. At first, they argued that I shouldn’t stay alone, but eventually I convinced them and promised I wouldn’t go outside or do anything risky.
Since they already knew I was introverted and didn’t go out much, they agreed.
The day they left felt special. For the first time, I had the whole house to myself. I stayed awake the entire night playing games, thinking I would spend the whole week like this because they were going to be away for a week.
Whenever I got bored, I would turn on music, switch off and on the lights, and dance alone like my own mini DJ. For someone like me, moments like that felt extremely special.
After three days, I had already watched around four movies. After finishing the last one, I went back to my PC to play games. I turned on the PC switch and pressed the CPU power button.
Nothing happened.
I pressed it again.
Still nothing.
I tried four or five more times, but the PC didn’t turn on.
I didn’t understand what happened because it was working perfectly before. I waited for half an hour and tried again, but nothing changed.
I thought maybe something inside the PC had disconnected or there was some hardware problem. I watched videos on my phone about possible PC issues and tried every solution I could find, but nothing worked.
The only thing I couldn’t do was open the PC cabinet and check the motherboard or internal parts.
At that point, I gave up. I turned off the PC switch and went to my bed, but I wasn’t sleepy. I thought I would call my dad the next morning because it was already night and they were probably sleeping.
I turned on the TV, but strangely, that also didn’t work.
I tried everything for almost half an hour, but the TV wouldn’t turn on either.
I didn’t understand what was happening. My PC and TV both suddenly stopped working on the same day.
I had no other option, so I watched movies on my phone.
The next morning, I woke up early, took a shower, and got fresh. Before calling my dad, I tried turning everything on again, but I already had no hope.
Nothing worked.
So I called him.
Dad picked up.
I said, Dad, my PC and TV are broken. I tried everything, but nothing works. I think they need repair.
He replied, Oh boy, that’s terrible, but I’m sorry. Nothing can happen right now because we came here for a festival. I can’t send anyone to help you. You can watch movies and play games on your mobile for now.
I felt disappointed.
I said, But Dad...
Then I stopped and said, Hmm, okay.
He said he would call me later.
I said okay and ended the call.
I was angry and frustrated, so I punched my pillows. Later, I tried turning on my mini DJ setup to dance and distract myself.
But even that didn’t work.
My speaker usually connected to my phone through Bluetooth, but suddenly it stopped working too.
I didn’t understand what was happening. Everything I used for entertainment had stopped working.
I had no other choice except spending the week using my phone.
After that, I just accepted it and waited for my parents to return.
When they finally came back, the first thing I told my dad was to fix my PC.
He said okay and asked what happened.
I told him that something inside was probably broken.
Before repairing it, he said, Let me try turning it on.
He switched on the power and pressed the button.
And then...
It worked.
The PC started.
I was shocked.
I blamed myself and thought, If I had just tried one more time, maybe I could have played games the whole week instead of wasting my time.
Then my dad tried the TV.
It worked too.
He checked the speaker.
That worked as well.
Everything suddenly started working like nothing had ever happened.
My dad took a breath and said, Ah, that’s it. Maybe it was just stuck or jammed. Nothing serious happened.
I didn’t ask any questions. I just went back to my room.
Later, my parents went out again for some work, and I thought I could finally enjoy my alone time.
But when I tried using my PC again...
It didn’t work.
The same thing happened.
I tried everything, but nothing happened.
When my parents returned, I called my dad again.
He came, pressed the button, and it worked.
One day, my dad started getting suspicious.
He said, Stop doing this prank. It’s not funny.
I told him, Why would I prank you? I swear I’m not doing anything.
He quietly said maybe I was just playing with him.
I told him to watch closely.
I pressed the button in front of him.
It worked.
I tried every device in front of him, and everything worked perfectly.
I was completely confused.
Whenever I was alone, nothing worked.
Whenever someone was watching, everything worked.
I even took my phone and recorded myself trying to turn it on.
But while recording, it worked.
The moment I stopped recording and tried again alone...
It failed.
At that point, I became extremely disturbed. Around the same time, I got a terrible fever, and because of that whole incident, I couldn’t explain what was happening to anyone.
For months, I stopped using those devices.
Whenever I looked at my PC, TV, or speaker, they gave me an eerie feeling.
Those things that once gave me happiness became connected with a strange memory I couldn’t explain.
Slowly, after around six and a half months, I finally tried turning on my PC again.
It worked.
Everything worked normally.
It was like nothing had ever happened.
Years passed. It’s now 2026, and we have already moved into a new house.
Even today, I still don’t know what happened during that week.
Maybe there was a simple explanation.
Maybe there wasn’t.
I never found an answer.
For me, it is better to just forget that it ever happened.
