I've been wondering how to run Stealth in Righteous Blood Ruthless Blades that isn't just opposed rolls.
I like the sorta fluffy nature of the game where there's no specific "sneak skill" which makes it more contextual to the player's strengths and helps incentivize their approach to stealth situations other than, "Roll sneak skill". but the rulebook also doesn't recommend any ways to adjudicate stealth and detection.
Something I've been considering is using the Evade skill against an NPC's Detect. Evade creates the TN that the NPC must pass to determine if they detect you in a scenario where you could be spotted. In group scenarios, the member with the highest Evade stat is used, but each member attempting to stealth with them incurs a -1 Evade penalty against the Detect roll. So if you have a person with an Evade of 10, and 5 of the party members are trying to sneak across the courtyard with you, the NPC guards would roll Detect against a TN of 5. This can be used to strategize; if someone with Low Evade attempts to sneak with someone with higher Evade, then they can avoid having their low stats dictate how the stealth encounter happens. But the more of a crutch the party becomes on this high evade character the higher chance of getting caught, encouraging unique ways to try and get around situations.
But I'm wondering if anyone else has used this system and adjuciated Stealth. How did you manage it in RBRB?
