What do you think are some good male friendships on television?
For me, some pairs that are coming to mind are:
- Jack and Nolan on Revenge
- Ted and Beard on Ted Lasso
- Maximo and Memo on Acapulco
House and Wilson
Enh, I take issue with this one. House was a terrible friend, and took advantage of Wilson practically whenever he could. Wilson was someone who never threatened House, and rarely ever challenged him, and more often than not, enabled him. The one time House was going to avoid consequences for his actions against Wilson (in contributing to Amber's death), House tried/wanted to die rather than face them, because in death his leg wouldn't hurt anymore.

It's hard to top Troy and Abed for pure chaotic energy. The way their bits escalated but never felt forced was something else. I'd throw in J.D. and Turk from Scrubs too, that level of comfort with each other was rare on screen.

There's this Australian show my partner really loves, called Please Like Me. Stars Josh Thomas. I think that whole show generally has a good portrayal of a really strong friend group, Josh and Tom being the core. Haven't seen it all, but the stuff I have seen, that's always really struck me

Miles O'Brien and Julian Bashir in Star Trek: DS9. I just watched episode yesterday where Bashir and O'Brien are missing hanging out with each other after Keiko returns from her year-long assignment on Bajor, (with Miles, mostly rightfully, feeling obligated to instead spend his limited free time with his wife and daughter instead of goofing off with Julian), and Keiko basically engineers it so they'll hang out again by telling both of them that the other one is depressed and misses them. I thought it was sweet and nice to see how far their friendship has come. I have also enjoyed the gag of them exiting the holosuite together in increasingly absurd costumes. Also, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy in the Original Series.
I had to scroll too far to find our boys! O'Brien and Bashir making the scale model of the Alamo while Keiko was out of town? Their bonding during Worf's bachelor party? Their friendship was the stuff of legends!

O'Brien and Bashir was my first thought. Quark and Odo in more of a frenemies kind of way. Garak and Bashir has been interpreted as more than friends by many, including their actors, but at minimum they're good friends. Jake and Nog? DS9 was just full of great character relationships in general.
