Google Sans vibes
All geometric sans serifs are similar because their primary function is to create simple, inexpensive typesetting based on simple shapes and lines for mass printing and the production of metal typefaces. They're a kind of next-generation version of sans serifs like Helvetica. What could be simpler than a sans serif? Frutiger and Futura had a love child.
This was 20 years before his Avenir (French for “the future”)
When they rebranded with helios logo, they changed to a cut of Univers. I was quite heavily involved in rolling out the rebrand.
If you love type you have to love Adrian Fruitiger. And seeing the journey from Univers to Fruitiger to Avenir. Neo-grotesque to Humanist to Geometric. His kinda backwards journey through it... Is a lesson in typography and a lifetime of work.
