I've been considering Volvo XC90 or Jeep Wrangler. Reliability for both is suspect. I'll be using for commuting mostly (San Diego), the off road capabilities aren't important, but I do need to tow 3,500 lb travel trailer. My budget is flexible, but I probably don't want to buy new. The Volvo's are about $15K more for similar year/mileage. I've read some of the horror stories re: Wrangler but people usually post when they've had bad experiences. Any suggestions are appreciated!
The Pacifica Hybrid's rated for 3,600 lbs and you can find them used at decent prices. Depreciation hits those vans pretty hard so your money goes further than on an XC90. Plus the minivan form factor is just infinitely more practical for daily commuting and gear hauling than either of those other two.
After raising 4 kids I'm thinking (hoping) our minivan days are behind us. But I do agree from a practicality standpoint they can't be beat!!

Google puts the Rav4 at 2,500 max, so not quite enough.
X5, range rover, JGC 4xe, Mercedes. Cx90? Basically Euro style midsized SUVs. Do everything machines but are technically complicated so more things to break.
Mazda CX-90. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe is not a trustworthy vehicle.

The 2026 Cherokee tows 3,500. Hybrid so it gets pretty good mpg. All new engine though so you’re taking a chance on unknown reliability.
Avoid. PHEV are the worst. Get a pure EV or and ICE car withOUT plug. If you insist on making a mistake and buying a PHEV get a Toyota or Lexus. Other PHEVs use a much worse drivetrain design, completely different, much less efficient and much less reliable.
