I want to share something I’ve observed recently. In short, I manage a sector in a company that deals with quality control of plastic details after they’re produced from the machine before they’re sent out to clients (shortly said, the workers check stuff like circuit breakers for cracks, stains, etc), and we’ve hired students for the summer. Five of them. It has come to my attention that four of them can’t be without their phones for more than 10 minutes, can’t hold a conversation without slipping in “bro, like, also” between every third word, often find an excuse to do less work than needed. But the fifth one is different. They never say a word and always do more than desired. They’re almost never on their phone, but rather always listening and observing what’s going on around. And they’re the only one I can hold a valuable conversation with. Predictable to say that they barely speak with the rest of the group. Honestly, they just have something different in their face that make them stood out from the rest, like some shine in their eyes that hinted there’s something going on behind them. The aura they’re giving in general, the movements, it’s all just different in a way I can’t explain. It’s honestly a shame that the five of them will be paid the same salary at the end of the month

This is about as accurate as judging someone's wealth by how they look/dress.

I think it was Look magazine years ago that had a contest where people sent in their photos to show how much they looked like some well-known celebrity. The results were interesting because in every case, when you viewed the comparison photos of the top 10 "winners," the contestants in some cases looked almost exactly like the celebrity, but in every case, you could tell the celebrity. The celebrity always looked smarter, somehow. Or like they just had more "going on." The #1 winner was, I think, a guy who looked like Woody Allen. And it was eerie how much he looked like Woody, but . . . somehow the real Woody Allen just looked smarter.

What makes you think airbrushed celebrities are of freaterbt intelligence?
It sounds like you are reading interest & inquisitiveness from their eyes & body language. I remember a course I took in college about beahavior & body language, that correlated eye dilation to dopamine levels & engagement with content they found interesting. I can definitely tell, when I'm explaining something to a colleage, if they're going to retain it or if it's going in one ear and out the other.
You sound like the colleague who was trying to show me how to transfer a phone call. He may have thought poorly of me, too.
I think you can tell if someone is superficial as fuck by whether they think they can somehow judge someone's intelligence by the muscle and bone structures in their face.
