So I was doing research in the field of chip design and had a prototype that met the mathematical analysis, systematic simulation framework and partially the schematics. AKA all the novel parts were done which quite rarely have never been done ever in my field so it's not like FoM mattered because there is no reference table for it.
They knew that it wasn't feasible to do in 6 months and would take years minimum but I was able to mathematically prove that it is possible to do, stable and capable of scaling. This would be used in around 8 programmes in the research institute that I'd use.
Then I stated that I decided not to pursue my MSc there but was going to transfer to another school with a fully funded MSc offer and that I also had job offers from Analog Devices (which is quite prestigious in the field), Bell Labs and a few other companies in the field.
Normally he was a very kind person fast replying and whenever I had a problem with the tools he'd handle it that day. His English wasn't that good but we still got along. He changed after I said I was gonna finish it.
Then the moment after he learned I went he said that is no reason to leave etc. then I showed him my friends who published in Nature Comms first author doing MSc and top venues in their field of interest. Then he said that was an extreme case then I showed him bachelor students and masters students that published and got into CalTech Stanford UC Berkeley ETH EPFL directly for a PhD. And with the current setup I stated that it was structurally impossible for me to pursue my goals from here due to grade deflation of the MSc (wherein a 3.3/4.0 is the valedictorian etc.) and the fact that I only worked with a scientist and hadn't seen the face of my professor throughout the whole internship. And I hadn't even talked to my other supervisor, ever.
He told me if I got a testing or evaluation job (in my field generally design is considered prestigious) I told him I got a design job in all companies and he looked shocked and didn't even congratulate me.
So at the final days of my internship he didn't show up to my final meeting in a room, didn't tell me so I was alone in a conference meeting room presenting but he asked insanely technical questions, never said a farewell then also asked insanely easy questions for what I assume to question me then said that I should've worked harder. Then in the final 2 days he told me to write a technical report when he had told me I didn't have to during the 6 months. Told me to work on the blocks and finish the parts saying it would only take 10 minutes when it would normally take a normal PhD graduate engineer in my field around 1-2 months to do.
He didn't even show up in the final day, when he saw me he didn't even enter my room so I had to badge out and leave on my own lmfao. At least made a few friends
