Sometimes it's not the food you're craving, it's the crunch, texture, or temperature. our brains are weird like that.
This explains why I eat popcorn even when I'm not hungry it's the crunch
I’m not pregnant or on my period at the moment but I keep having weird cravings. For the past few months I can now only drink sparkling water out of plastic straws and cups. I refuse to drink water out of regular glasses it just tastes wrong. I also love eating raw pasta. To me it’s like a snack like eating crisps. It tastes amazing and I keep craving more of it. Why is it that we have this?

Most cravings come from something the body is low on. Like, the famous "pickles and ice cream" for pregnant women can come from low sodium, and the need for more fats. Not sure what a craving for uncooked pasta and drinking from straws mean, tho.
Is that a craving or just something you like doing?
I don't know if there's a scientific explanation that's been confirmed. It's important for a growing embryo to receive a lot of different nutrients, like folic acid as one example. Maybe mothers who had strange cravings and thus were more likely to experiment with eating different things were more likely to get all those nutrients, and thus have successful pregnancies and pass on their genes.
I know what you mean, this winter I basically survived on powdered watercress soup, with tons of melted cheese in it. It had to have the perfect amount of water to cheese ratio, and all the other soups (either bricks or homemade) couldn't compare... I can't wait for the summer to be over so I can go back to this weird, extremely unhealthy phase.
Eating raw pasta is a sign of PICA. You need to see a doctor and a nutritionist immediately.
Ugh miss raw pasta but it makes me sooooo bloated But I think it’s just the way our brains are wired sometimes it’s more about the sensation and the way it lights up the good feeling in our brains
