I'm sorry (and a little surprised) this has spread to Europe. Living in the western US has meant living with fire for the last decade and I thought that was the price of being near the mountains but it's spread to the Midwest and East Coasts and apparently to France and Spain. We've lost control, if we ever really had it to begin with; Tahoe is only still standing because of a favorable change in the wind a couple years ago. These fires are big, hot, and behave differently, and simply putting them out is beyond our ability.
This has been ongoing in Europe for a decade as well. It's just that it's getting worse, everywhere. As predicted.
