oh man my niece does this same thing, she describe movies like she never watched them before. 45 minutes is not bad honestly, i would need to call her mom and ask what they watched recently the tube part is what got me, i forget that scene in inside out with the memory tube thing. bing bong scene still gets me every time

My first thought is Inside out because they are emotions, they have no parents or kids, they are different colors, they go up and down a tube, Bing Bong fades away in the end, and the people are everyone who the emotions interact with - including the host.
My second guess is Soul or Elementary but it's only because I remember they're elements or feelings I don't remember their plots.

The "they're not the same color," is a big hint. Coming from a small child, I read it as, "They are very specifically different colors."

My guess was Toy Story 3. The characters are colourful, they’re not animals or robots or monsters, there are people in it and it’s sad at the end. Also, they went down a tube (at least in my mind, haven’t watched that movie since it came out) when they went to the incinerator. Also wow, that movie is old enough to drink is plenty of countries as it was released in June 2010. I feel old now
