The mods are keeping this situation very tight shut, to avoid rule breaking comments I suppose? Transparency isn't their biggest strength, r/EuropeMeta is just for show since I asked them and won't answer too.
Can anybody explain to me why they can’t deploy army there? Poland has somewhat similar problem on Belarusian border. There’s the wall, armed patrols and everything. Sometimes someone gets shot as a deterrent…unfortunate I guess but it is what it is.

Because deploying the army to a cramped small city that you need to supply by sea is not a good idea, also shooting people at your border when they come en masse is stupid unless you want your army be responsible for a massacre of thousands (due to panic induced in a crowd). Hope that helps.
They did deploy the army as soon as possible. The situation is now under control. What's weird is how 50k people were waiting like that to go in.
Spanish government is pretty left-leaning and their coalition would probably crash and burn if they ever did that. Theoretically I agree, the border should be properly defended. Maybe not by shooting someone but atleast make sure they cant just walk in
