Should that apply to public officials on the job? Surely California of all places has made it clear police officers do not have to give consent to be recorded

I wonder where the recordings took place that there was ever an expectation of privacy? Squad cars have recording equipment. Cops in california generally wear body cams. If any of the recordings were in public, there's no expectation of privacy.
Nothing is fair about applying that law here.
