Get as many tools in your toolbox as possible.
Exercise. Simple walkikg does it for me. I also strength train which helped build confidence.
Find a hobby that's relaxing. I fished for awhile but now I read. It is a giant help. Both helps keep my mind busy and eased my anxiety. If I'm particularly overwhelmed I read. Helps everytime. That's on top of reading daily even if just 15 minutes or so.
If you can, have a friend (friends) spouse or therapist to talk to. Just being connected is important.
Lastly, medicine. I have extreme anxiety. A lifelong, chronic condition that will never go away and no pharmaceutical will fix. I take an SSRI, a mood stabilizer and a daily benzo. Something my doctor put me on as a last resort but which combined with everything keeps my head above water. More good days than bad.
With all these I still suffer. I was never into fitness. I was never an active reader or fisherman. I had to force myself to do these things with the hope these tools in the tool belt would help. They did.
I was once also an addict. For a brief but life-changing period of time. To the point I had to hospitalized. I am now successfully, years later rehabilitated to the point that only my closest of friends know the dark place I was in. Mostly, I was self meditating because of my anxiety.
I say all this to say the cliched thing. If I can do it anyone can do it.
Good luck and get your toolbox filled.
