Man, we’ve come a long way in 40 years
PIXAR was the name of the computer that the Lucasfilm computer division developed and ILM did this with. When the division was sold off the in house computer graphics R&D was transferred to Industrial Light and Magic. Steve Jobs wanted to sell the PIXAR computers and tried to make it a computer hardware company for years, they didn't sell well and PIXAR did animation for TV spots to stay afloat, years later they finally got Toy Story made.
