Went through this a few years ago. All the dishes, cups, glasses and silverware are in the cabinets and drawers above the dishwasher. Cabinets under the cooktop have the pans, and the drawers next to the cooktop have things like peeler, can opener, measuring cups, grater (measuring spoons live in a mug next to the stove since I have three sets). Cabinets under an island that divides the kitchen from the breakfast nook house mixing bowls, hand mixer food processor, the Instant Pot. Cabinets above that island house ingredients for baking - flour, sugar, corn meal, and so on. There is also a power strip/surge protector at the back of the island to plug in air fryer, IP, mixer etc. The surge protector takes care of the now and again overload if too many things are going on at once (we have learned the microwave and air fryer should not be running at the same time). Most things are closest to where they will most often be used. Your situation of the separation between the stove and sink is familiar. I deal with the pasta draining by using a colander or sieve that will fit on top of the pot, so it can catch the drips; then I dump the drained water in the sink, and carry pot and colander together back to the stove area, dump the pasta, rice or potatoes into the pot and then return the colander to sink.
