Volvo D13 customer fitted a 2nd hand power steering pump. It came complete with gear. Fuel pump is driven off the back of the pump. After they fitted it the engine wouldn’t start, turned out the drive gear was too small and not engaging.
It's amazing to me that people dont compare what they take off and put on.
I know, then they start changing unrelated stuff instead of thinking “could it be something I done?”
Spark plugs are one of the biggest culprit of this phenomenon. The number of too short and scarily too long plugs I’ve removed from engines is scarily far from 0.
What changed most recently is the best place to start. Not ashamed to say it took me a few years to learn this but, I did eventually learn it lol
