don't think so. but i asked on the discord and they told me to change the settings and i can't find that setting anywhere
this randomly started happening today. i recently uninstalled sol (basically rss) because i didn't want to deal with heavily inclined planet orbits so early into the game, and that might be a part of it. but i really cannot get connection unless i am in the direct line of sight of the ksc or a few other random places. also, it might just be me, but i think kerbin is slightly bigger than normal. maybe sol has some stuff left over?

i think thats normal, try making a relay network
It doesn’t look like you unintentionally have RemoteTech or RealAntennas so my guess is just that it’s early game and you have the require signal and comm network settings enabled in your career difficulty settings. Kerbin only has like 3 ground stations, which you have to manually enable, otherwise you only get the KSC. Which is painful as you’ve discovered lol. Once you get a few higher orbiting relays launched it’ll get easier for connection. Your low relay will ping off your high ones to connect at whatever ground station is reachable. Then you can go full 5 relay pentagram geosync network.
this is sandbox mode because i'm too lazy to bother getting money and science, and like i said, this only just started happening
