I recently had my unlocked phone snatched out of my hand while I was using it for GPS. It happened in an area that’s generally considered very safe and not known for this kind of theft. I caught a quick look at the person as he rode away on a bike, and I filed a police report the following morning. Thankfully, I was able to use another device to lock the phone fairly quickly. Unfortunately, not before the thief had drained several small accounts, including one on a crypto trading platform. Using the blockchain transaction history, I traced the stolen crypto to a unique username. From there, I cross-referenced it with local information and, within hours, identified the person. I found his public Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn profiles, then pieced together details about where he lived, where he’d lived before, where he worked, his mentor, barber, family members, friends, and even his son’s soccer coach. This morning, I contacted him from a dummy account. I showed him the evidence I’d collected and politely asked him to return the stolen money. I told him he could keep the phone if he returned the funds. I also explained that if he didn’t respond or repay the money within 36 hours, I would provide all of the evidence to police to add to my report.

So where's the revenge if you don't have anything back yet and they didn't have any consequences? All you did was some fancy detective work, that's it.
Nice detective work, but gathering evidence and turning it over to the police, is not revenge of any level.

Of all the things that didn't happen, this didn't happen the most.
His mentor? What is he an assassin? Is he being trained in the art of thievery? Also, what financial apps are you using that don’t require either Facial Recognition, Thumbprint recognition or a Pin before accessing your account. Even my Annuity and Pension management apps require FaceID and a Pin just to log in and view the balances, let alone transfer to external unlinked accounts.
