I have a friend I play music with and when he hands out lead sheets to the group they always have something printed on the other side because he saves and reuses paper that’s only printed on one side. I cut used paper in quarters and use the other side for memos and lists you had a garden, I’d say there are many uses for your waste paper and cardboard from shredding and putting into a composter (which saves buying mulch and soil amendments) to covering the space between plants with paper or cardboard which saves buting weed killer.
That's interesting and make sense in my op. I have a lot of plants, a big garden and also a small vegetable garden (idk how to say it).
I used to make recycled paper pads with old stuff on the backside. I even went the extra and cut the sheets into smaller pads and staple them with those 20+ sheet staplers. It made me happy to see the printed side on the back.

Yep! Shred and compost. Friend of ours uses cross-cut shred paper as litter/bedding for small pets.
I print on the blank side of used paper. If the used paper has been folded or is otherwise damaged (torn corners, etc) I cut it in half and use it to write notes. I don’t know if composting is the best idea—first, because the ink used could be toxic for your plants, and second because high-quality fiber (such as printer paper) can be recycled and given a new life. please don’t burn it!! could you donate it? maybe there’s a local business or teacher who could use your good paper to print things on the blank side, or someone who could use your boxes to repackage stuff
Black ink at least is safe. I don’t compost colored paper.
Personally I use all the paper and cardboard I can get to bedded my livestock the hooves take care of the shredding and the end product gets composted

Lay paper out on your garden beds instead of mulch. My old boss used to use our old large paper size architectural drawings to prep his beds for planting his garden.

Who doesn't need a little scrap pad?) -with a little tape, use paper as labels for kitchen cannisters and other containers -cardboard can be made into quick and easy drink coasters, use 'til they're worn or wet, then you can toss them (decorate and decoupage or don't) -make drawer organizers for socks and t-shirts with cardboard -heavy paper and cardboard can be used as weed control in the garden
-If your paper/cardboard are clean, you could use it to absorb oil when frying foods, or if it's not clean, you could use it to help absorb dirty oil for disposal
I shred it and take it to our local dump. They have a bin for shredded paper and it is reused for packing material, etc.
if I throw the materials away and pay the bill, they will be recycled. The point is, are there more sustainable ways? For instance, turning them into compost-> less fertilizer->cost savings and a happy planet.
Hello all- here is research-based facts that earthworms (most types, but red wrigglers are most aggressive) through vermicomposting action, reduce or isolate heavy metals from all sources, including cardboard. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0957582017300976 If you say, “well, I don’t want to take care of worms”. You do not have to! Cardboard and other materials attract dearth worms of all types. And the presence of an earthworm indicates healthy soil! Hope this helps.
