I'm framing floppy disks as an art piece. They do still work and need to continue to be functional even after framing.

Greetings crafters!

I am framing the original 1993 Doom Floppy disks. In the photo are ones I'm allowed to practice and mess with.

My partner is going to Quakecon where the creators of the game will be doing a panel and will take this with him to get signed.

The layout like a dice is what he likes the best.

The frame is deep like a shadow box, though the glass is touching, but may get an actual shadow box

I'd like to have them pop up a bit to give them depth.

What id like assistance with is what I should use to lift it up and not compromise the floppy disk. My best idea right now is the thicker foam adhesives that are small little circles so they can still be taken off but also strong enough it won't come off.

I'd love help and feedback if there are any other ideas on how to adhere them or make the art piece more compelling.

Of course I procrastinated and it has to be finished mid day Wednesday 😂

by "pop up a bit" I'm going to assume you mean that you want them to sit on the surface of the backboard rather than be cut into a recess i would just use double sided tape on an area of the disk that has no label. once you get it pressed into the frame, the pressure of being held up against the glass will be doing most of the work keeping it in place

My idea would be to make a little shelf of sorts from foam core board, and use some poster or museum putty to give it some hold while still giving the disks support on the bottom with a shelf. You could also use some L shaped plastic brackets or similar to create the shelf idea. Just a thought.
