We are an edtech company from the Netherlands, and we require being able to provide appropriate answers regarding the data of our students and parents.
The term "GDPR-compliant" is used by most providers of video hosting marketing pages, but that term does not clarify the data location in any way. That is what should be asked from every provider, not stated on their pricing page: where do they host their video data, and is there any documentation?
For many, the term "GDPR-compliant" means "we will provide you with a DPA to sign", which is obviously a must-have feature, but not necessarily the one implying EU-based hosting infrastructure. Kinescope hosts their servers in Amsterdam, and that became a decisive factor for us when choosing whether we needed to explain to our institutional investors the location of hosting in the USA.
It makes sense to ask providers for their server hosting location documentation.
