Need Advice for the Biggest Move of My Life

Moving to Indonesia to marry my partner, and trying to work out the practical side before I book anything rather than after.

My background is drafting. Ten years of house plans, construction drawings, 3D modelling and CNC file prep, most recently at a company that builds armored vehicles, so I'm used to work where the tolerance actually matters. I'd take either a job on the ground once I'm there, or something remote that travels with me if the local market doesn't pan out. I'm not fussy about which.

If anyone's made a similar move, two things I'd genuinely like to know. What surprised you about the job market once you actually landed. And whether you'd recommend having remote income lined up first or just going and seeing what turns up.

If you happen to know a firm, a workshop or a fit-out contractor that takes on drafters, I'd take the name gratefully. Won't turn this into an advert beyond that one line.
