I had to scrap my second run with default evolution. Too many big bugs even before I got gun turrets. So I restarted the map for the third time with evolution and expansion rates turned down to the minimum. I RUSHED to 600 labs as fast as I could. Legitimately pausing if I was stopping for even a few seconds. The clock is ticking rapidly still even at minimum rates.
My current evolution is up to 0.5499 from pollution and I've just completed gun turret and walls. The transition to 15 second science was a little unexpected.
This meant adding another 240 labs which brings my total up to 840. Getting my science back up to 3400 SPM.
I had my gun turret factory pre-built so the moment researched finished I was able to start making 8 at a time in my factory. I installed over 1600 turrets to enclose my pollution cloud. Connected with a single full belt of yellow bullets. I made an entire border sub factory for bullets so I don't have to run them from my main area.
I wanted to make sure I have good bullet density for the inevitable behemoth incursions that will eventually start coming. I'm clearing all the basic red sciences first, but I'll be moving to red bullets for my first green science research. Then as quickly as possible into flame thrower turrets. I'm still not sure if I will get to flame throwers before behemoths start spawning. Fingers crossed, as long as I keep hustling! 🤞 Engines are 10 mil red green, fluid is 5 mil, and oil is 10 mil. Then another 5 milly red and green just for flammables and 5 mil red, green, and grey science for the turrets. We have a lot of work to do to get there.
I have all of my gun turrets enclosed with walls now too.
Since I'm not even fully containing my pollution cloud, my next project is to build substation bases to make extended gun walls to keep expansions away from my cloud. I expect to run into some bases further out, but I did put the distribution to minimum so I don't expect a ton initially. I will be using gun turrets and lots of bullets to clear any bases I run into since I still don't have military 1. My main concern is beating behemoth evolution with red bullets and flame turrets. If I can secure my borders with those then I think I will be largely in the clear to start the long road towards robots.
Do you think I will be able to survive behemoths or nah?

Absolute madman. I wouldn't be able to survive behemoths, but you have made it this far

Thanks bud! 💀 I'm just hoping red bullets are gonna be enough. It's so dang much research to get to flame turrets! I feel like if I can survive behemoths then I can make it to robots eventualllllyyyyyy. 💀

I'm certainly gonna give 100,000x science a try, or maybe try to find a multiplayer group to give it a serious try.
But 100,000x on default settings? That's utterly mad. How are you not running out of everything before even the first few sciences? Electric mining alone would mine out the nearest few iron and copper patches.

It isn’t default settings, I’m not too sure where you pulled that from (it was initially attempted with default *evolution* settings however)
If you look at the map view screenshot, the ore patches are huge and frequent, doesn’t look like they are all on 600% maxed (freq and size) but it’s up there

I'm a long ways from default settings. All resources are 600% across the board, and I have evolution, biter base distribution, and expansion set to their minimum values. My first two tries were at 600% but with default biters and it was simply not possible. The evolution factor sends giant spitters long before you can get gun turrets done.
I don't want to turn biters off entirely, though, because then base defence no longer matters, and I feel like that's one of main challenges of the first half of the game. I fully expect to drain all of the resource patches you can see on this map by the time I get off planet. I'm getting into this map for the very, very long haul, because 2.1 is WUBE's final content update to the game.
