Players kept asking if I could add a level editor so they could create, share, and rate their own levels. I told them there was absolutely no way I’d manage that before release.
Then I made a tiny prototype. Then I added one more feature.
And somehow, five weeks later, here we are.
The demo is now connected to a PostgreSQL database, levels are stored as tiny JSON files, and they’re converted into Godot scenes at runtime. The whole thing is lightweight enough to run on Supabase’s free tier.
Players are already sharing their first levels, and the editor also lets me iterate on new levels for the full game incredibly quickly.
What would you think about a player-made level eventually becoming part of the main campaign?
