Oh man, I love this one. I Believe In You at #1?! Bonny at #2?! The Downtown Lights, Cloudbusting, Lorelei, Downtown Train, Shadow of a Doubt… so many good picks.

Hannah Frances was superb last night. I thought she might be solo, but performed with a band (keys/bass/drums/sax), many who apparently had just learned the music and they only had one rehearsal. You could not tell, because they sounded tight. Her voice is insane and she makes it seem so effortless. Both that and her guitar playing remind me of Madison Cunningham a bit, though used to different ends. I feel like in an earlier era, she would be much bigger, but I hope more success comes her way.
God I love Hannah Frances' lastest albums, one of the most exciting new things I've heard in a while, hope she gets bigger too, her music is very rich

I submitted my 80s list, and I am absolutely certain that I forgot something major. But, after a week of thinking about it, I just can't think of what it is. But I know in a couple days, I'm going to think of a song and be like "Damn, that should have been top 5" At the last minute, I did swap my Smiths pick from There Is A Light to How Soon Is Now, and added Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper (replacing Pet Semetary by the Ramones)
While the sun was shining i sat outside and listened to the first 28 Love Songs. I’ll be heading back out to finish the job later but right now I’m making myself an egg salad sandwich and a rhubarb pie. Saturdays rock.

Listened to Darkness On The Edge of Town on a rainy beach walk yesterday (we’re back, more or less) and got to thinking about how between Born To Run and The River Bruce just put all his best shit at the turn of side a into side B. On those three albums, the six songs at that junction are “Backstreets,” “Born To Run,” “Racing In The Street,” “The Promised Land,” “Independence Day” and “Hungry Heart.” What a fuckin run y’know. And a ranking because if I have a thought that involves multiple songs and I can’t rank them I’ll explode (and tear this whole town apart)

Decided I'll be listening to Cocteau Twins full discography, so far I listened to Garlands, Head Over Heels, Treassure, Blue Bell Knoll and Heaven or Las Vegas (i did not start in chronological order) and God damn Head Over Heels is so good, that last track is phenomenal, every sound sounds very organic and you can tell where they are coming from, unlike some other of their songs or albums where I don't know what instrument is making that weird but cool sound, and it feels amazing, such a great atmosphere, they even get a bit sassy with tracks like Multifoilded. Good journey so far
Folks we are in a series DROUGHT crisis rn and the only way we can fix this is if you put LIQUID LIQUID - CAVERN at 1 and LIQUID LIQUID - Optimo at 2. The entirety of Keith Jarrett's changeless and every cut from setting standards should follow to ensure a smooth ranking this holiday season Anyways stayed up til 2ish am because I got the FIRST ecm cassette that exists…a 56 year old copy of marion brown's afternoon of a georgia faun. Folks, cannot be understated here how fucking insanely good the Side A of this tape has preserved. It's just a bunch of bros getting together to fucking jangle their car keys. REAL ASS jazz!!! And at like 1:30 am in this humid moment, it truly feels like a dream plane then on side b, we meet bennie maupin, anthony braxton, chick corea, and andrew cyrille all dabbling in free composition. A bit muffled but a critical moment for these players--maupin will go on to Herbie, chick will continue to explore free and team up with braxton will form Circle. Several seeds planted here

Just searched "fresh album" on this subreddit and looked at the top results and it was oddly emotional lol. I look back to The Slow Rush's release night with so much fondness.

Bothers me that Life During Wartime is originally a 70s song but the version from Stop Making Sense is the undoubtedly the best song of the 80s, to me, so what’s a guy to do?
