The client kindly shared the context behind this image. In their own words: «My father, Frank Taylor, was then assigned to the Civil Engineer Squadron (CES). The timeframe was Christmas of 1969 near the village of Songsan-ni, which was situated just outside of the back gate of Camp Stanley, a former U.S. Army post in the Uijeongbu area of South Korea. This area is also located very close to the DMZ line. This was at his post company where about 50 children from an orphanage arrived by bus. No one in his company had volunteered to be Santa, and as a leader, he decided to take on the role. There, he handed out socks, "long john" thermal underwear, other essential items, as well as some toys, etc. My mother and her friend were there in attendance for the company Christmas party. My parents had just lost a baby on December 20th of that year \[...\] so you can see the sadness in his eyes. I can read his face even with the beard & mustache. My father was a very giving person and would help anyone. His mother gave him the nickname of Sweet Man, because that was who he was; the sweetest man. Generous and loyal to his core.»
