Who is thinking “I need a little purse and you know what’d be perfect? The ugly cube that all my underwear is in right now”?
OP
Random idea I can't stop thinking about — a packing cube that also works as a crossbody/shoulder bag when you need to carry it on its own. Like when you're out for the day and don't want your whole pack, or you're in transit and want quick access to stuff without digging through everything.
So normally it packs flat inside your bag like any cube, but it's got a stowable strap and enough structure to hold its shape as its own little bag when you pull it out.
There's some cube/pouch hybrid stuff out there already (Tom Bihn-ish), so genuinely curious what you all think:
Not trying to sell anything, just want to know if this is actually worth building or if I'm solving a problem nobody has lol.

I would say a tech pouch which can also be a sling would be much better function and design wise.
Fair point — the tension is a cube needs bulk for clothes, but a sling wants to be slim. A tech pouch (chargers, cables, no bulky clothing) might solve that way more cleanly. Appreciate the reframe
I looked at the Tom BIHN packing cube bag but got the Rogue Sacoche instead. My concern with the packing cube bag was that it has no structure and based on its shape would just flop about on my shoulder. I am very happy with the rogue sacoche as it packs down to almost nothing in a suitcase.

I’d feel like I was getting it dirty and wouldn’t want to put anything clean back inside or next to it.
Think thin & light Packing Cubes only have one job. Don’t complicate things.
