Really hope we get a sequel one day, with a bigger budget. I liked it but the end felt rushed, like they ran out of money. Also, bonus points if they include a character creator. Had a modder make a model of my cat, which increased my enjoyment by 50%. And now that he’s gone it’s a game I will return to every now and then, even just to wander around.
I loved this game. My only wish is at the end I want to go back and explore in an open world type setting and catch up with everyone you spoke too.
Such a beautiful, well made game. I've played through it several times. And the soundtrack is amazing!
This and Marvel’s Midnight Suns ended up being the biggest surprises of 2022 for me. Midnight Suns was a treat as a Marvel fan, but Stray managed to totally capture that cyberpunk feel in a way that no other game has, even Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a true gem, at least atmospherically.
I tried Stray a couple of years ago and really wanted to like it. On paper I should love it. I love cats, I love Cyberpunk, I liked the visual style and I enjoyed the narrative. As far as I got, anyway - maybe 2h into the game? But the gameplay bothered me too much. Or more to the point, the absence of anything I'd consider actual gameplay. It seemed like there was nothing more to it than pressing whatever buttons the game shows you when it shows them. Does that ever change? (I know you can turn the button prompts off. I tried that, because I found them immersion-breaking. But the game seemed very much designed around the prompts being present, because inputs are often context-dependent).
Each level actually has very different gameplay, which is one of my favorite things about it. Later levels were stealth focused, puzzle focused, etc. definitely worth keeping going.
As a massive gamer, this short little game is absolutely in my top tier of the PS5 era. I hate going for platinum trophies, there is usually 1-2 stupid trophies meant to waste your time… But Stray was perfect. I think I got all The trophies except 1 on my first play through, the hardest trophy was a speed run, which genuinely was an intense 2 (3?) hour rip through the game. Was able to do it first try, but I remember it being very close.
We picked it up for Xbox (disc), beat it and returned it. Didn't really see what all the fuss was about.

I totally agree. I strongly dislike the enemy encounters, simply because I feel like it is a cozy game. I want to play it over and over again to relax, but the thought of having to deal with the enemies again makes me not want to replay. I wish the was a "god mode" or something to allow me to replay without having to worry about the enemies
stray appeared mysteriously in my library one day. i never paid for it, and it was never gifted to me. i kind of grew tired at the big collectible list that was only sort of worth it and got burnt out, but i definitely saw there was some goodness to it that i should have given a fairer shake
I loved Stray but yeah some of those enemy chase sequences were pain in the ass.
I really enjoyed it, but there's some combat that was so difficult I almost gave up. I don't have good reflexes, and there aren't difficultly levels unfortunately.
