It's excellent. It's not a long show by any means but I watched it in two nights. One of the better jokers.

It's not my cup if tea. It's ok but I'm not excited to get to the next episode like i am Xmen. The animation is also just ....so stiff.
DC animations seems to be stuck into this low budget weird art style for years now. Rarely you get a well animated show from them or a movie. At least that's how I see it, if people like it, more power to them. But I think western animation in general when it comes to these type of shows are all over the place
I agree the animation does seem a little bit stiff, but I love they kept a similar art style to BTAS.

Having only seen the first two episodes, I thought ep.1 was subpar but was surprised at how good the second one is.
Give it a shot. Different show runner on this season. I liked season 1 and think this is a lot better.
It's much more consistent than the first season, and the worst it got was only mediocre. There's also a larger focus on Batman this time, so if that was an issue you should like this more.

It feel less thematically focused than the first season, and feels like there are a lot of reinventions for the sake of reinventions ( the riddler is the riddler now because he riddles people with holes). But also I think it's paced better. When I look at the first season everything tied back into exploring wealth and copporution in some way. Catwoman is changed to be rich lunatic who thinks she can get away with everything because she's rich. Gentleman Ghost is changed to be someone who steals from the poor because he views them as inhuman. Harvey Dent is someone who is forced to comprise his principles and then breaks Down in the end. Firefly is just a dude who needs help but the corrupt police punish him. Season 2 feels like a lot more random off episodes.
Wtf did they do with the riddler? I still remember his intro in TAS "If you're so smart then why aren't you rich".

“More experimental” always scares me a bit with Batman, because it can mean genius noir or “what if Joker was a podcast.” Does it still feel pulpy and grounded?
I'd say so, yeah. He's not "because I'm Batman"ing every problem, some you see him figuring it out as he goes. Though some changes to characters may be super jarring, even if you're a comic reader and follow the Absolute Barman, these can feel... odd. All in all, I enjoyed the second season enough, but X-Men is leading the pack on nostalgia kicks and incredible story telling.
Joker podcast joke is funny because Mad Hatter basically does that in this series
Oh yeah, it's still clearly set in the forties, even the advanced mad scientist tech is strongly what people in the forties or pulp fiction thought advanced tech would look like. I will admit a few of the versions of the character I wasn't a fan of, but others were really good.
The re-invention of the Riddler to just a maniacal thug with a green suit is perplexing, but other changes are neat to see, particularly the Joker. Solid season. Love the ambiance and music and how R-rated it is.

I thought the first season was okay, if a little slow paced and felt “tame”. Started the new one last night with the first three episodes and already it feels like it’s embracing more of its style. Old fashion setting but with modern levels of violence which for me, works out pretty well.

If you grew up watching Batman the Animated Series, this show is pretty great. It feels like a pretty clever re- telling of some classic villains and story lines.
Its a very poor imitation of TAS. It only copies it style but fails everywhere else, especially the writing.
BTAS is one of my fave shows ever and I’m loving season 2 of this much more than season 1, I want this succeed so even more stuff like this will be made

2/10 rating; Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm, and JJ Abrams are too ashamed of the source material to really dive deep to do something truly different.
Again, Batman is a poor detective, but this time Alfred is doing all of the heavy lifting. Even Harley did most of the detective work with the Crane episode. I don't understand this obsession with writing Batman as this moron.
I'm tired of watching lowly criminals with little to no training land hits on him. For example, he literally got knocked out by the woman Rose and her whip. That shouldn’t ever happen. If it was Deathstroke, Lady Shiva, Bronze Tiger, Ra's Al Ghul, or Bane, then it would make sense, as they are legendary battle-tested warriors. Something similar to Batman of Shanghai's combat prowess is needed here to truly be different.
The Mad Monk thing upset me to no end. Just divine into the supernatural. I don't understand why they didn't give us something real with Barbatos. That would've been different and fresh, but alas, it was a fraud trying to scam people when he should've been a vampire like he was in the comics.

It's time to leave behind the gangster crap and embrace something new. It wants to be BTAS so bad yet misses out on virtually everything that made that show special. Paul Dini was the reason, not Bruce Timm.

First season was ass so hopefully it’s better than that
I wish I loved this show, but I’m just comparing it to BTAS still, I can’t help it and it doesn’t measure up in terms of how fun and rounded the characters are. I watched all of season 1, then I tried the first episode of season 2 and got bored. But I heard how everyone loved the joker, so I skipped to the last two episode. Absolutely feel free to flat me for doing it, but I wanted to see what they did with the Joker after hearing so many people rave about it. I won’t lie, I was disappointed. >!It was so incredibly flat to me. There were interesting elements but they weren’t actually explored in his character, and it felt like there was no relationship with Batman despite the “brothers” speech. It’s like the Joker spoke AT Batman with this whole speech, and Batman didn’t really have anything to say back because none of it really bothered him at that moment. There wasn’t any exploration of their conflict: Joker just said what his deal was, exited, then Batman said to everyone else “huh we had a weird conflict” even though he didn’t even say anything in response. It just feels like there’s something missing to make this interesting dynamic, well, interesting or dynamic?!< I’m just being a pessimist though, I’m open to hear other people’s opinions because loads of people really liked this version of him. I also accept any incoming comments about how I’m missing the full picture because I skipped most of the season.
i still find the animation style to look cheap and only a rung above hannah barbara with perspective varying wildly and an uneven scale between scenes the drop off from the intro to show start is jarring
Yeah, I agree with all that. Wasn't a fan of all the changes. But it was so gripping; I'm really loving this version.
It’s terrible.
Hamish Linklater is even worse in this season.
