Can I reach out to a collaborator on a grant for a job?

I work at a small startup and we collaborated with a couple professors on writing a grant proposal that we submitted a few months ago. Unfortunately i will have to leave this job soon since the company is running out of money. Would it be weird if I reached out to one of them asking if they knew anyone in industry hiring/connecting me to a company? I know he’s pretty well connected but idk if it’s appropriate.
