That's what I was wondering: was this farmer the one who set the traps and felt guilty? If it's not his land, then who were the traps intended for?
I'm new to this sub, so I wasn't sure if I should add this text to the post. I don't want any bans or cancellations.
I’m guessing the trap is for coyotes or some other predator that’s eating this guys sheep or whatever. But like all unmonitored traps, sometimes you get something else. At least he’s keeping an eye on them and doing the right thing when it goes south.
good grief what a horrible barbaric trap to require so much effort and power just to release an animal. lil guy was so patient and probably in extreme pain. :(
Why does the farmer have traps like these on his farm?
Gonna guess coyotes or wolves based on the size of the trap. Traps are wack tho, better off sitting out there at night and picking some off if your gonna let em sit there and suffer.

Didn't seem to be injured too badly. Immediately stood up on his back paws and went to the side by side for snacks. Maybe that's a more humane trap than the barbaric spiked ones.

This seems like the same issue that park rangers talk about with the designs of “bear-proof” trash cans. There’s significant overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest humans.

Don't know what these foot traps are called in English, but aren't they illegal in many parts of the world? At least they should be....
Leghold traps. They are illegal in most parts of Canada. Not sure about the US.
It was already leashed and seemed somewhat trained. I definitely accuse the people in the video of purposely placing a trap on the poor thing just to create a "rescue" video.

I like to hunt, but I cannot stand trapping. I think it is super cruel and indiscriminate. At least hunting with a rifle or bow I know the target I’m taking and I can place an accurate shot to minimize pain and suffering. I know, still taking an animal causes pain and suffering but at least they are not trapped with a broken foot, pinned to the ground for hours, or days, panicking and trying to escape. It is like a cruel version of a glue trap for larger animals
Even worse when a dog gets caught in a large one. Trapping these days is kind of F’d.
