Poetry might be more difficult because it plays around with meanings of words and might or might not use proper grammar.
I struggle to process the words together into scenes instead of each word individually.
With this, i also find it hard to find deeper meaning in say, poems. As I usually only scratch the surface.
If anyone has any tips and tricks on how to properly understand books and poems because its really hard to have to focus sooooo hard on each and every sentence, it gets really tiring and simply not fun to do so.

I try to teach my students to understand a bit of context. For example, it would be confusing to watch a scene from The Matrix without a bit of context to better understand the words and purpose of the scene. Try and do the same with the poems.
