My husband and I are first time home buyers - we are 18 months in. We absolutely love our property and home. We worked super hard to find it and really lucked out on everything...except the neighbors. I am sure we seem like the annoying neighbors to some, but here is our situation.
Our neighbors moved in after us. They have a commercial food truck bigger than a UPS truck. No, our city does NOT allow them to park here. And no, neither does the health department. They bought a POS "new build" (it was built on a vacant lot that was vacant when we arrived and built by some guy and his unlicensed friends). The family that bought got screwed. We saw the entire thing get built and how it passed inspections we will never know. But they bought it for $50K more than ours. On a side note, ours was built in 1970s, masonry, REALLY well maintained by past family with upgrades here and there with a BEAUTIFUL yard. Literally everything you would want in a home and everything you would want as preventative (termite prevention, irrigation,, etc). This is relevant because their home came with NOTHING except the concept of a new build and higher mortgage. More on that as it is relevant.
My issue is that, they bought this home and are the type of family that buys POS vehicles that doesnt fit into their front yard. With the food truck there, they have hit our front decorative wall 3 times. We have been nice and asking them not to do it. We've fixed it twice. The last time, we flat out asked them for repair supplies to fix it nicely and they did and apologized. They keep hitting it because primarily, they have that food truck and can't fit their other 4 cars around it.
The fourth time is coming. I know it. Their food truck is clearly not doing well. I can get into the reasons how we know, but we just know. They started the food truck middle of the pandemic, and rode the pandemic business high and didn't actually plan well it shows. Now, they are struggling. The food supplier they have deliver food to their house (also not legal), changed from high end to just generic. They are coming home sooner. When they tried to give us the supplies to replace the wall, it was just some water logged cement that they clearly got from a friend and we told them, no. Brand new please.
They are also dumping their food truck waste into the sewer line or something. I can see where they are draining right from the window.
My question is this: I could go through their car insurance to fix the wall. That would be quick and hopefully send a message to quit it. But that won't fix the long term solution, I think?. Do I call the city on them for parking the food truck there and the health dept completely affecting their source of income? Do I become the ultimate "karen" that I have despised for so long and never wanted to be when we bought a home? I know that if I call the county, they will get either shut down or close down temporarily thus affecting their income.

The reason they keep hitting your wall is because you’ve been WAYYY too nice about it. I would have handled it the first time it happened. The county will provide a warning and make them aware of code violations. If they’re aware and continue to violate those, then don’t feel bad if their income is impacted once they receive fines.
Not to be a jerk. But I didn't ask why they keep doing it. I know I have been nice. We have been nice because we do not want people to be affected financially by us complaining. Little complaints from neighbors as I understand very rarely affect someone's income. I am asking if I should affect their income. It is a big decision to make to actually make someone not able to afford the house they bought. But I hear you and thank you.
Seems like you coukd report them to the county or city ans also the health department. Why you're venting on reddit I really don't know. Report them and let us know what happens. What you're living with is infuriating especially since others appear to have pride of ownership but not these folks. And it sounds like you've definitely tried.

I’d report them, I’d only feel bad if they were good neighbors but they aren’t.
i would 10000000% report them to the city. Let the city handle the code violations. Report the property damage to their auto insurance (if its insured) Get it fixed properly, if they continue, file claim again.
Need to put something big and strong there that will fuck up their vehicle more than their property next time they inevitably hit it again

If it were me, I approach them nicely but stern… let them Know how I was feeling, give them that one opportunity to fix it… but that’s it… if they continued… I’m calling everybody lol. Call me a Karen , would not give 2 Fs lol. If these people are disturbing my peace , that i worked hard to have , sorry not sorry

I’m sure they’re in the wrong. But when you try to explain this to others, if you do report them, try not to come across like you do in the OP. Nobody cares that their house is a new build, nobody cares you have termite prevention and irrigation. Stick to the issues. Illegally parking a food truck. Likely illegally dumping into a storm drain. Reporting it isn’t Karen, this OP is already ultimate Karen. You’re already there, so no need to worry about that.
Dumping their waste in the sewer is a big problem. You as a taxpayer will end up paying for their negligence when the sewer is clogged. The backup depending, on where it is, could affect you. Their oversized truck illegally parked is also costing you money for your broken wall. They are skirting the health laws by having food sent to their house and possibly contaminating it. Depending, a lot of people could end up paying for that issue. So adding up their violations and real and possible damages, I think you are justified to report them.
